Edo South lawmaker, Senator Matthew Urhoghide has moved a motion for the impeachment
of President Muhammadu Buhari over the payment of $496mn for
purchase of Tucano jets without National Assembly approval.
Urhoghide is calling for invocation of Section 143
of 1999 Constitution which gives the NASS power to impeach the president.
The motion was seconded by Chukwuka Utazi spoke in support of the move.
“This
is an impeachable offence,” an obviously angry Mr Utazi, said.
Naija News recall that Buhari had left members
of the lawmakers angry the illegal withdrawal of $496 million to pay for 12
Tucano jets which they contended was done in breach of the constitution and
without legislative approval.
Just a days
ago, Honourable Kingsley Chindam a
member of the house of representative also called for the impeachment of Buhari.
