“Do you love her? Quen asks Edward.
“YES!”
“Then what are you going to do about it?”
Edward couldn’t answer immediately.
“What should I do? I don’t want to lose her but you know how
our father is!”
“You have to decide what is more important to you, our
father’s approval or your love for Dale! Which of the two can you live
without?”
Edward just kept silent.
“It should be easy to answer if you really love her!”
Quen observed Edward.
He can see the struggle in his brother’s eyes.
He knows that it hasn’t been easy for Edward as they were
growing up.
He always felt like an outsider.
That mother, or it is more right to say his mother, treated
Edward as if he doesn’t exist.
While their father is indifferent to him.
He wonders if Edward’s mother didn’t die, would his father
have acknowledged his brother?
If she was alive would he have kept him a secret?
Knowing their father, Quen believes that Edward would have
been kept a secret till his last breath.
That’s the kind of man their father is!
“Until you’ve decided what to do, in the mean time, please
don’t show your face to her again! I know
she may not seem to be hurting, but she is! Believe me she is!” Quen
pleads to Edward.
“You seem to know her so well!” Edward scoffs.
“I’ve been with a lot of women and I know when they are just
pretending to be okay!”
“I forgot that you are the expert in relationships!” Edward
says with sarcasm.
Quen ignores what Edward said and instead asks….
“How did your relationship start?”
“I meet her after I got engaged to Elizabeth. I was so drawn
to her that I couldn’t stop myself from pursuing her, so I did! She kept
ignoring me at first because her friends warned her about me! Or should I say
guys like me!”
“What made her say yes?”
“After six months, I gave her a jewelry box as a box as a gift for her birthday and she
said yes!” Edward smiled a bittersweet smile.
He still remembers the way her face lit up upon seeing the
couple inside the jewelry box.
He hadn’t really anticipated her reaction to his simple gift
so it took him by surprise that she loved it so much!
She loved it too much that she even gave him a kiss.
A kiss that led from one thing to another.
They made love the first time on her birthday.
